Home Sweet Home
by Mary ~ November 14th, 2007. Filed under: Halloween.Happy Halloween and Happy (upcoming) Thanksgiving!
As I’m sure you guessed, our lives have become no less busy than usual. Since the last update, we have celebrated my second favorite holiday in the world: Halloween.

We had a great time being smurfs (smurves?) The blue didn’t work out as well as we hoped, but its the thought that counts. Click here for photos.
I also played in a charity poker tournament for PILF (Public Interest Law Forum) where I “won” meaning, I made it to the second to last table.

I was keeping it real with the shades.
Much more importantly however, we had the chance to go HOME last weekend! It is the first time I have been home since CHRISTMAS!! (Typhoid kicked my butt this summer and I wasn’t able to come home earlier as I had planned.)
The first agenda item (of course) was to see the new ECHS campus.

Suzie Ramey gave us all a personal tour.
Then I went to see my long lost Santa Clara mentor, Angela Dugan, who, by a total fluke, is now working for Eastside Catholic!

Here she is with her daughter Sofia, also known as “The Tipper.”
And no visit home would be complete without seeing Doc.

Here he is, joining the “Texting Generation.”
Then I had THE greatest sister weekend ever to make up for the last sister weekend (which was a total bust on account of the Typhoid).

Sharon and I shopped until we dropped.
Then we had dinner with all available Nuxolls to celebrate, celebrate, celebrate! Red passed the bar exam and Scott got into Digipen!!! Also, my sister Karen had a birthday and Layne (very back of photo) wants you to know her mom is “not 40 yet.”

Congratulations and Happy Birthday!

And on that note, Happy Birthday Jessica! Here she is in her completely awesome Halloween costume (including a very important prop: Steve “Ewan”). Hey Jess – what are we doing for 11-11-11?

Happy Birthday Larry! Here he is with his favorite “Whitties.” We had dinner with them Monday and met the President of Whitman College!

Happy Anniversary Jan and Cary!

And last but not least, Happy Birthday Maxine!
Other than that, I am registering for next semester’s classes and, if you will indulge me, I will tell you “The Plan.” After sitting down with the law school administrators and the Ph.D. program directors, it is official, I will be graduating from law school in May of 2008. I will take the bar exam this summer and then next year, I will complete my Ph.D. Yes, I have selected a dissertation topic. If you would like to know more about it, please check out the FAQ’s.
The best part is that in order to complete both programs on time, I am only “allowed” to take 8 more law school credits and I must cram in some of the Global Affairs credits next year. So what am I signing up for, you ask? I will be taking Wills, Trusts and Estates, Evidence, and (get this) “Dissertation Research” which basically means nothing . Thus, my schedule will be T-Th 1-4 p.m. Yes. That’s it.
So that is my update for now. I would like to send out one more congratulations to my dearest Red, Esq. To the rest of you, NY results should be coming out very soon.
