Life After The Bar

Well, the earth basically stopped rotating last Monday. Our dear sweet Asha had a bit of an accident and we are SOOOO relieved that she is okay.

Asha is awake and talking and will be transferring to a children’s rehab hospital soon.

So for the last few days, Red has had the pleasure of being “Mr. Mom” to Asha’s almost-three year old brother, Tom. We stayed at Robin and Vickie’s for a few days, but since I had to work, Red dealt with the brunt of the kidsitting.

Birth Control.

As for wonderful news, Ragan and Steve welcomed their new little bundle of joy on July 30, 2007.

Noah Patrick Mooney was born at 5:38 p.m. Mom and baby are both doing great.

They are already home and the report is that they are in love with parenthood so far. We can’t wait to see Noah! In the meantime, we must be satisfied with Noah’s new page at Mooneyweb.

And now, to make life easier for all of us, I will list the big (and small) events that have occurred since our last update.

1. Hilariously, both our dishwasher AND fridge crapped out three days before the bar exam. Knowing that Red was in no state to deal with either and that he would go insane if we didn’t have proper food for the big days, I called Jan and begged her for help. She did a great job picking us out some new appliances, ordering them from Seattle and having them delivered here.

Here is the before and after of the fridge. Thank you Jan!

And here is what is on our new fridge if you look more closely:

This is a card Robin and Vickie sent in celebration of my recovery from Typhoid fever.

2. Then we had a ridiculously huge party to celebrate the bar exam being over!!

We also made a special graduation video for everyone!

3. Red and I celebrated our fifth year wedding anniversary.

Then and now…still happy as ever.

4. Tanya (Baker) Anderson came to visit New York.

We gabbed for hours on end!

5. Then we celebrated Tricia’s birthday and upcoming wedding by going wine tasting in Long Island for her bachelorette party.

Happy Birthday Tricia! We were soooo “Sex in the City.”

6. Then we welcomed some incoming west coast 1L Rutgers students to the area.

This is Miles and Hannah from Seattle. I am certain you will be seeing more of them in the future. Especially since this was the aftermath:

I woke up at 7:30 a.m. to go to work and all the lights were still on, the music was blasting and Red was passed out on the couch. This basically encapsulates Red’s entire week after the bar exam.

7. Then we enjoyed a celebratory lobster/clam bake put on by our favorite hosts: Dawne and Larry.

Dawne fed us well, bibs and all. She even blew up balloons for Red and Phil.

8. And amidst all of this, Cary Kopczynski had his birthday.

Happy Birthday Cary! He’s giving a thumbs up to his newly-minted first edition attorneys.

So there you have it, the update from Mary and Red. And believe it or not, this weekend and next, we have NO PLANS. I believe this is the first time in years (maybe first time ever) that we have had NO PLANS. It is very strange. I don’t know how I feel about having NO PLANS.

Love,
Mary
